Abstract

Zeolites are a series of microporous crystals with intricate pores and channels in the size range from 0.3 to 1 nm and they have widely been used as catalysts, adsorbents, and ionexchangers. In the present study, rice husk, which is an agricultural waste, was used as silica source for nanozeolite sodalite synthesis. The effect of crystallization time on the final product properties was investigated. The obtained results showed that the crystallization time has significant effects on the structural properties of the synthesized sodalite nanozeolite. Sodalite nanocrystal with crystal sizes ranging from 30 to 60 nm have been synthesized at 60°C and aging of 5 h, without adding any organic additives. Synthesized zeolite was characterized by XRD and SEM.
